Prozac Information

What is Prozac?
PROZAC (fluoxetine hydrochloride), a member of the serotonin-reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) family, is a popular FDA-approved antidepressant medication used for the treatment of depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD)and bulimia nervosa. It is also being used for patients with panic disorders, pending FDA approval. It is believed to work by blocking the reabsorption of serotonin, a neurotransmitter or chemical messenger in the brain. Many scientists believe that a serotonin imbalance in the brain plays a big part in the development and severity of depression.
